Ms. Alexander is the kind of teacher that every parent hopes that their child has. She cares deeply about her students and their success which comes across through all interactions with the student and the teacher. Our son struggled during the beginning of distance learning, trying to get him to be in class and engaged was tough. Ms. Alexander stepped in right away to not only make us aware but also took the time to have a very meaningful conversation with our son. She explained to him kindly, but firmly, the importance of his learning and how he had the opportunity to be a leader. Ms. Alexander's investment in Thomas made him want to get to class and ensure that he was on time and ready. She realized his individual strengths and leveraged those to make him a student who is eager to learn ELA. He proudly tells us how ELA is his favorite subject. When he signs off from ELA he comes bursting into the room to tell me about what he learned and an action that he is going to take. I appreciate that Ms. Alexander helps students understand their role in the world too, how they can help the environment, be better people, and contribute to society. She really is one of those teachers our boys will always remember fondly even as they move up through the grades.

Our family is thankful for Ms. Allen every single day. I'll always remember on Jack's first day I received a note from Ms. Allen letting me know that Jack was having an amazing time. I can't tell you the amount of relief I felt after reading that message! She is there to welcome him every morning with a smile and a warm greeting and wishes him well every afternoon. Any time I have a question, she is quick to respond on ClassDojo. After an incident on the playground she quickly called to let me know Jack was ok-using her own cell phone to get in touch- when the regular tools weren't working. Jack truly loves going to school everyday and he always says its because of Ms. Allen. The extended day has been wonderful for Jack and our family- as it allows us one extra hour of work time- but I can only imagine the added challenges and exhaustion for teachers.

The teacher I am nominating is Mr. Allen. He is such a role model and inspires me so much. He treats me like a son and makes sure I'm okay and on my best behavior. He greets me everyday with a smile, a hug and a "Hey son!" He always corrects me when I'm wrong and makes sure I'm keeping up in the classroom and with my sports. Mr. Allen deserves so much more than he receives at this school and in the rest of his life. He is such a great person.

What makes ms.Allen amazing is that she lets me be a leader for my classmates to go to the gym . What makes me excited about Ms.Allen class is she lets me show her my gymnastics moves and makes me feel special when she tells me how good I did , also loves when she reads books to the class . I know Ms.Allen cares for me when she tells me I do a great job at sharing with my classmates, when she’s happy to see me come in the morning for school. When I get the answer wrong Ms.allen let’s me know it’s okay and tells me to try again that’s when I get my confidence back. Ms.Allen supported me doing my tonsil surgery , she wished me luck and checked up on me with lots of love. Happy Teacher Appreciation Day Ms.Allen.

Honestly in a classroom of 26 you wonder can a teacher even make a difference? The answer is absolutely yes. I get emotional even thinking about it. Through COVID my son was in daycare at a center that pushed for perfection. My son would come home crushed by the day not being perfect or messing up, when daycare was suppose to be fun. NOW my son comes home excited to tell me about his day, achieving more and more and growing so fast. Mr. Alumbaugh took my sons bleak outlook on education and turned it into so much fun and growth. One night we get home and we finish a page of homework, eat dinner, and he sits down on the couch to play Fortnite (every child favorite game). Mid game he stops and turns to me and says "Mom, Mr. Alumbaugh said we should read more, and reading can be fun if you read stuff thats interesting." I stopped in my tracks and thought "Did my son just stop playing video games by choice to read?" And thats exactly what we did we went and read. Every scholastics bookfair he rushes through those pages picking out what he could possibly bring home to read. And yes at 6 years old my son picked out history chapter books to read as a family. He sees his own potential, the need to learn and grow has impacted even my life. We have an open house for school and he begged me to go - he wanted to show me all that he has learned. We first get into that classroom you know what - he sits and reads me a book. Mr. Alumbaugh comes over beaming with pride. Like my one child out of 26 - and this man knows every quirk, need, and where he needs improvement. THAT IS A TEACHER WHO CARES. My son who didn't want to go to school - now every break asks me is it a school day. He enjoys every aspect of it. He comes home and wants to do puzzles, read, and write. Chase has now boasted about the fact he still wants to be a teacher. Chase plays every sport. He is athletic and quite tall. Chase loves video games and challenges. And you know what? Out of all of this he wants to be a Kindergarten teacher like Mr. Alumbaugh. Not a professional basketball player or the next TIK TOK sensation. One thing I love about this man is understanding every child is different. Every child learns at a different pace. In the morning when Chase finished his morning work early - Mr. Alumbaugh has him help his fellow classmates if they need help. How genius is that, how interactive and awarding is that? Chase feels like a leader and he may not be the smartest kid in his class but he challenges himself now. He wants to learn more and help other people. Mr. Alumbaughs kindness and focus has really helped shape my son. I couldnt ask for anything better and I am tearing up even typing this. No mother wants their child to struggle, or to hate school, or to feel defeated because they cant keep up. Mr. Alumbaughs curriculum is perfect for any child growing and learning and developing. When Chase graduates from highschool, I know we both with remember Mr. Alumbaugh his kindergarten teacher who literally shaped his love and admiration for learning. I cant thank him enough.
