I was nervous during the first week or two at Eastwood because I was in a new place and didn't know anybody, so I didn't know what to expect. It wasn't easy figuring out where my new classes were or understanding how to use the combination lock. However, Mr. Self was always there to help me, no matter what. My Daughter Makda talks about her teacher McMillan all the time. She is very excited to go to school every morning. Makda is excelling in her education very well and I think her teacher plays bigger roll on that. We appreciate Mrs. McMillan for being a great teacher to our daughter.

Dear Sir/Madam: My son Seth started Eastwood in January of this year. Mr. Ferguson has helped Seth adjust to this new environment by making him feel welcome in his class. He also introduced himself to me as Seth's math teacher, while waiting for the children to be called to exit the cars. This was a pleasant surprise, which I welcomed. He is a friendly and thoughtful person. Seth is excelling in his class because he takes the time to explain the concepts to him and encourages them. Seth tells me that he is kind, has a great sense of humor, and "really teaches". Because of Mr. Feguson, Seth has a newfound love for math again. Thanks for all that you do. Ms Alvarado is awesome because she teaches us math in fun ways, she also makes soccer for Girls and Boys. They make me feel more confident because she knows that I can do anything :D. She supports us by giving us tutoring sessions and she also helps us with our homework

Miss. B is an awesome Teacher because when you walk into her room it feels like you walked into a friends house. She makes things exiting because she always is able to make things work and she's funny. She also makes it very clear she cares for us because she won't let you go hungry (don't tell her I told you about her snack bag, 😉 ) in her classroom. She makes me a better person because every time I get myself into a deep pit she always finds a way to get you, or myself, out of that predicament. she has also shown support in and out of her class room because she always makes sure your doing the right thing just to make sure you don't get in trouble. Miss. B is an awesome teacher here at east rock and makes me feel good when I'm in her presence.

my first time in your class i felt really welcomed it was really fun doing all types of crafts,drawings ,coloring,and much more. your class is really fun. i also like other classes but your class is my favorite class. also like i have your class two times a week, to me all the crafts we do are like recess just having fun. one reason i like you is because you showed me and a lot of other kids how to use their creativity in a lot of different ways.you showed me all the creativity i have now and all the cool and interesting ways i can show it. i will tell you 3 reasons why i like your class so much 1.you are super kind 2.even tho you are a stem teacher you are really good a drawing 3.no matter what we do i always have fun and much much more. Ms.Maiocco was the best 4th grade teacher I had. She always helps when ever it is needed and her personality is so comforting, even as one of her students I felt like a friend of hers. She made me confident by always sort of watching over me and letting me know what I'm doing wrong and she always complimented me. She supported me by listening to my problems whenever I would talk to her about them, and she lets me know that she cares because she always asks how I'm doing whenever we see eachother. She is an amazing teacher so I love her like my parent, one time I called her mom by accident.

Mrs. Zollshan was an amazing teacher even during one of the hardest times to teach; Covid. Even while learning online she made it fun. Even while being kicked out of the meeting every single minute (literally) she still managed to teach us very well. She made teaching fun and taught us how to use google slides and docs for school work. When we went back in person she continued to make learning fun. Now she is my brother's teacher and he loves her just as much as I do. It is amazing how great a teacher she was even while there was a worldwide pandemic going on. Thank you Mrs. Zollshan ❤️

Mrs. Giddings is a great counselor because she knows how to solve problems. She shows that she cares by listening to every word that I say. She made me feel more confident when it comes to dealing with drama. Even today, I took her words and became what I wanted to be as a person. I don't talk to her anymore because I learned more about ignoring since I have a hard time when it comes to drama. Overall, she is a really good counselor.

What makes me excited to go to her class is she very helpful and also she's always here when u need her she's someone you can let all your feeling out to and I love that if she needs to she will say what she have to say and she don't care I also love just sitting with her and hearing her problems , she also always find a was to make u smile I love her so much 💗 .

Mrs. Maiocco is my old 4th grade teacher who had helped me a lot, and still continues to do so, as she always there when I need her. I talk to her more than I do with my other older teachers i´ve had. She is so nice to be around with as her positive energy always makes me feel safe and happy. She is one of my favorite teachers in this school that treat me like there own. My relationship with her is something I cant explain with just words, I would have to create one just to say. Third grade teacher Ms. Pence is an outstanding educator. Our 3rd grade son Max greatly admires her. It is clear he has flourished this year in Ms. Pence’s classroom. Beyond her professionalism and competence, I believe Ms. Pence merits special recognition this year because of her creativity and skill integrating a quirky, student-led campaign into the 3rd grade curriculum. Responding to student interest, during Spring 2024, Powell teacher Ms. Erica Pence integrated work on the ceremonial resolution with 3rd Grade units on DC government. Ms. Pence invited Emily Tatro Cassometus, Senior Counsel to Councilmember Lewis George, to visit with students and describe how the DC Council passes ceremonial resolutions. With Ms. Pence’s guidance, Powell 3rd Grade students researched and proposed the "whereas" statements included in a ceremonial resolution, "To recognize, honor, and celebrate the Red-backed Salamander, Plethodon cinereus, and other amphibians that call the District of Columbia home, and declare May 5-11, 2024 “Amphibian Week” in the District of Columbia," introduced by Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George and adopted by the DC Council on May 7, 2024. This has been an exciting and memorable experience for the third graders - and would not have been possible without Ms. Pence’s flexibility and skill. Ms. Pence is an inspired educator.

Mrs. B is an amazing teacher she always makes me feel happy. She always makes learning interesting and tries to help everyone in the ways that they need. I am always happy to go to her class not only because I get a break from Mr. Griffin's singing but also because I love her class. She always cares about everyone and makes us feel safe. She always handles situations amazingly even if there is a lot going on. She has so many great things about her it is hard to name them all. Mr. Griffin is a very funny guy but he is very serious when it comes to doing our work, in some way he reminds me of an older version of me. He has always encouraged me to strive to become the best I can be despite me being goofy at times.
