Dear Honored Schools, Our family would like to nominate and recognize Ms. Cruz. Ms. Cruz is our son Ezra's homeroom and math teacher. She has been a consistent force in our son's learning over the past year and a half and she's incredible. Our son did not attend a dual language school before Powell and the transition was initially challenging for him. Ms. Cruz supported him with love and kindness even as he felt like it was too hard. I have seen Ezra become so much more confident in using Spanish and can't wait to see him grow further. The way she balances challenging students and at the same time providing them support is powerful to watch. Ms. Cruz also moved up a grade so she could stay with her students admist the pandemic and moving to virtual school. That is not easy for a teacher because it means a lot of new material and planning. She did it anyway because she wanted students to feel supported. We are so grateful to her and feel so lucky that Ezra has had Ms. Cruz for these formative years. Gracias Ms. Cruz! Go Panthers!
